Building Hope, One Brick at a Time
Nearly every day at Arise, we lay the final bricks in one of our new homes - signifying the end of our construction process, but the very beginning of a new chapter in someone’s life. Each new house is a place where a family can rest at the end of a hard day and build memories to last a lifetime. A place that they can call home. Every house we build is special for those reasons - but last Friday, we finished construction on a house that will have an impact far beyond the family that calls it home.
The house in question, at 24321 W. 76th Street, Shawnee, KS, was built in partnership with Homes for HOPE and represents the first “Hope House” in the state of Kansas. Arise Homes joined forces with our trade partners and suppliers to build this home at cost, allowing us to donate the projected proceeds from the sale of the house (more than $148,000) to Homes for HOPE to use in its service initiatives around the world.
Our mission in the marketplace is to make high-quality homes more accessible to people in our home communities in the Kansas City area. In working with organizations like Homes for HOPE, we can contribute - through the generosity of our customers and business partners - to helping people further from home.
Homes for HOPE is committed to fighting poverty on a global scale by offering “a hand up, not a handout”. They work to give people in impoverished regions of the world access to capital and entrepreneurial opportunities that can help create lasting change, both for the individuals they fund and their communities.
Officially founded in 2005, Homes for HOPE has already invested in 2.5 million men and women, serving over 20 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
How Does it Work?
Homes for HOPE partners with businesses in the building industry across North America to generate donations that will then fund programs provided to under-served families globally, giving them access to discipleship, safe places to save, business training, and small loans. Through these efforts, we can empower talented and hardworking men and women to find and grow businesses that will help raise their families and communities from impoverishment, freeing them from the cycle of poverty that is holding them back.
With the help of our vendors, trade partners, and suppliers who donated their time and resources to the building of this Hope House, we were able to donate more than $148,000 to Homes for HOPE. These funds will be invested in over 5,000 HOPE International clients!
We couldn’t be more proud, and humbled, to be a part of such an incredible experience and such amazing organizations.
